I’m a scrunchy mom otherwise known as a semi-crunchy mom. It means that I follow the 80/20 rule, try my best, and let go of the rest.
It means I believe in progress over perfection and that something is better than nothing!
Be your weird little self, commit to growing a little every year, and accept that being 100% of anything in American culture is nearly impossible.
I’m a scrunchy mom…
✅ I will 100% be dunking Thin Mints in milk while telling you about the dangers of Red Dye 40 and parabens in your deodorant.
✅ I won’t drink raw milk because I have an irrational fear of food borne illness, but I’ll let my kids eat straight from the garden because a little bit of soil is good for the immune system.
✅ I’m growing elderberries and witch hazel in my backyard to make my own medicine, but am so grateful for chemotherapy which saved my mom’s life.
✅ I will tell you to fight the system, the suits, and listen to any & all conspiracy theories with an open mind, but… well… ok that’s one thing I’m pretty consistent on.
✅ I filter my water with a Berkey but let my kids enjoy the occasional slush from Buc-ees.
✅ I use almost 100% natural cleaners and personal products, but I’ll go through a drive-thru occasionally without guilt.
✅ I grow some of our own food but don’t have any desire to make our own clothes.
✅ I don’t dye my hair but I do love Amazon Prime.
See? It isn’t about some social media aesthetic or looking like you have it all together. It’s just about taking care of your family, listening to your heart, and showing grace to yourself and others.
Now go be scrunchy! I’m proud of you.
