Reset for a New Month

Alright, folks, buckle up! It’s that time again – the monthly reflection where we get to hit the reset button on life and attempt to adult like we know what we’re doing. It feels good so we don’t care.

I’ve been a planner for years & years, but I’ve found sometimes my life just… gets messy… and I really need to breathe, reorganize, and start fresh.

How do we reset our life for a new month?

  1. Reflect on the Past Month (Without Facepalming Too Hard): Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, shall we? What went down last month? Any epic wins? Embarrassing moments? Reflect on the highs and lows and then do some journaling. What do you want to keep doing? Do differently? Do less?

  2. Set Intentions (Don’t Get Wild): Time to set sail on the good ship Intentions. Think of intentions as mini-missions. Want to master the art of chilling out? Or maybe try to enjoy cooking family meals (hi, Kalen)? Be realistic, but get a bit outside your comfort zone.

  3. Create a Monthly Plan (But Leave Room for Netflix Binges): Whip out those planners and color-coded spreadsheets. Break down your intentions into bite-sized chunks and pencil them into your calendar. For example, if you intend to get to sleep earlier, map out a week’s worth of earlier bedtimes. Just remember to leave space for those impromptu dance parties and movie marathons with your kids. I feel a Twilight one coming up.

  4. Declutter and Simplify (Goodbye, Junk Drawer!): Bid farewell to the clutter monsters lurking in your closet, under your bed, and in that mysterious drawer that somehow accumulates everything. I have two of them. Pick one or two places this month to declutter and commit to it. Write it into your monthly plan!

  5. Nourish Yourself (Not just with food): Self-care is crucial. How can you build in a nightly, weekly, and monthly routine that prioritizes rest and nurturing yourself? I like a nightly skincare routine, a weekly bubble bath, and my monthly bucket list.

  6. Embrace Flexibility (Roll with the Punches): Embrace the month’s curveballs with a healthy dose of humor and a side of resilience. If a plan changes or an intention falls through, make adjustments if there was something you could have changed but otherwise find the humor in it, learn, and keep going. Life is crazy!

  7. Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection (Because Perfect isn’t Real): Raise a glass of herbal tea to progress – no matter how small or ridiculous. Whether you intended to hem some pants finally & you did it last month, or you simply avoided a mental breakdown – as you rest for the month ahead, make time to celebrate and savor the progress you’re making.

  8. Cultivate Gratitude (Even for the Little Things): Last but not least, let’s sprinkle some gratitude on this monthly reset cupcake. Take a moment each day to count your blessings – whether it’s the sunshine on your face, your best friend’s hilarious text, or the fact that you finally scheduled the dentist. If you really want to reset your brain, bathe it in the feel good chemicals of gratefulness.

So, there you have it – your guide to getting your life together for the month ahead. Truth is, we’re all going to be a work in progress, and we will always have good months and harder months. We’ll plan and daydream for what we can, and let go of the rest.

Cheers to a month filled with laughter, adventures, and maybe even a few happy accidents.

Let’s do this thing! 🎉
